I'm always on the lookout for what I hope are interesting and or challenging forum projects. This is not our usual project idea thread, but rather a thread to knock around some ideas and to see what our members are interested in building. Remember, the whole idea of the forum projects is to get you to build something that you normally wouldn't or to try a new building process that you haven't tried before.

So let's throw some ideas around and get some feed back on them.

I have several on my list.

1. Midget racers. The Indy car build was popular. A midget build would be similar but also has the attraction of a same model build or even a box stock build.

2. Porsches. The number of street and racing Porsche body styles is astounding. Their livery ranges from plain silver to unbelievably complicated, and every color of the rainbow.

3. Utes. Utes is Austrailian for a car based pickup, like a Ranchero or El Camino. These are customs that I think all of us could build. Trucks always seem to be popular on this site.

4. Although trucks seem popular on this site I don't foresee an 18 wheeler project. An 18 wheeler could be built for some others projects, if you wish. I feel that except for the Pete 359 kit, the rest of the big rig kits seem to cost too much to get a decent participation.

These are some of my thoughts. What are your's.

Don, I like the idea of a rear-engine build. This is a broad area that could cover exotics, VWs, Porsches, dune buggies, Corvairs, Fieros, dragsters, customs, etc...

I like the Utes idea. I have the following ideas:

1) Fun in the sun--This would be any convertible model. It would emphasis more detail and advancing interior skill.

2) Fast and Furious--as the name implies, this would mean duplicating one of the lead cars from the movie series or a build along the lines of the fast and furious movies meaning primarily 4cyl tuner cars.

3) Fire/EMS--just as it says, this would entail ambulances and firetrucks.

4) Bonneville--- would require building a salt flats racer. Could be broken down to a more specific type of salt flat racer.

5) Common Object--this one could be real interesting. Pick one very common household object that everyone must incorporate into a build.

I just thought of one other one--panel trucks /sedan deliveries

I've got a few suggestions:
1) Corvettes only: Any corvette, stock or wild.
2) Manufacturers in business: The exact opposite of the current forum project.
3) 1930s-1960s racers: Stock cars that are based off of any car from 1930-1969
4) Same Vehicle: We all use the same car, say a 1969 Camaro for an example. It doesn't necessarily have to be the same kit, just the same year, make, and model of car.

On topic with the already suggested topics, I like the idea of doing a common object, the utes would be pretty sweet, and I already have a midget kit, and I think that would be a fun one as well.

Will my dad ever get his 72 Camaro on the road?

Some good idea's here - I like the Porsche's, or even rear/mid engine builds... but, well, I guess that's expected coming from me title=

I think I've mentioned this before but I think a 'curbside kit' build would be cool (meaning a kit with none or little engine details). Then the build could focus on body work/exterior paint quality and interiors.
Personally I almost never buy a kit if I know it's curbside because arguably the most important part of the car is the engine, and when I get a kit - I want to see it! That being said, there are some pretty sweet car kits out there that are made w/out engines... something to ponder I guess.

How about new show rods? We'd each design and build a theme show rod like the Tom Daniels type creations of the 1960's. For example, a hot rod for a TV show or rock band that never had a show rod. When I was a kid I created a Tiajuana Highway Patrol car using the POLICE decals from the Paddy Wagon on a Love Bug. It was black & white with bars on the rear windows and sunroof.

Here's a better example: the rear half of a ship stuck on the Hot Rod version of the Beverly Hillbillies truck. Whatever it is, it would need a crazy name.

Idea #2: Hearses.

I'm not just trying to start trouble...

I really like Ace's idea for hearses. That could roll back into my sedan delivery idea very well. Sedan deliveries/wagons could easily be transformed into hearses.

I Like:
1a. 2 seaters
1. Imports
2. Corvettes
3. Exotics
4. Porsche
5. Police/Highway Patrol
6. Election year special, entries have to be red, white, and blue.

If you can't learn to do something well, learn to enjoy doing it poorly.

How about Junk Box / Glue Bomb recycled / Discards ?

Build something out of your parts, failures and / or incomplete kits.

I'd call it Project Leftovers.
