Sorry it's taken me this long to post an answer, although I alluded to it awhile back.

Only race cars with Brirish chassis names will be accepted for this project. A Lotus power by Renault is acceptable. A Stanguellini powered by a Coventry Climax is not. If you are not sure, ask first.

Tricentrol RAC British Saloon Car Championship was renamed to the current BTCC, would cars in the original series qualify?

Sure, Tahiti, that would be OK.

Does anyone remember the under 2 Liter Trans Am cars? At first, the Trans-Am vehicles were primarily modified versions of the road-going car. The competition was divided into two classes- an "Under 2 Liter" class (predominantly small European sedans) and the "Over 2 Liters" class (displacement limited to 5.0 liters, or 305 cu. in.).

The first race was in 1966 at Sebring International Raceway. The overall win went to Jochen Rindt driving an Alfa Romeo GTA, an Under 2 Liter entry, with Bob Tullius, driving a Dodge Dart, taking second overall, but first in the Over 2 Liter class.

In 1967 Porsche bribed the SCCA into calling the 911 a sedan. 911s dominated the U2 until the 510 Datsuns appeared in 1971.

In 1969 the U2 class was changed to a 2.5 Liter limit.

Maybe we should have thrown the Corvette 60th anniversary build into the mix here. I was watching Barret-Jackson auctions last night and they auctioned off the first 60th anniversary vette. It weasnt the actual car--only the rights to the highest bidder to have the first 2013 off the line(serial# oooo1). Production is to begin in June 2012.
This would have been perfect timing for us to do this build as a forum project as we would be wrapping ours up around the time the real ones hit dealer showrooms.
Alas, they announced the first one of 2013 would be a 427 ci engine and it would be last year an engine that large would be available in the Vette. Like everything , the next generation Vettes will be going to smaller ,more fuel efficient engines, possibly even turbos.

If life is like a bowl of cherries, why do I always get the pits?

We've discussed the Corvette before. It will be a project when the new style Vette kits come out. I'm thinking Sept. 2012, maybe Jan. 2013. Depends on the kit makers.
