This is my first WIP post so here it goes. This is the 39 Chevy kit from revell. The body was painted candy apple red over a gold base coat and cleared with gold flake in it. There were alot of blemishes in the paint job because this was my first time using this type of paint. I just decided instead of stripping the body, I would just push forward with the build so here it is.

And here is what i have for the interior so far. My first attempt at upholstery title=. I did this with images of crushed red velvet printed out on paper and just glued it to the seats and panels.

Paint came out great! Love the color. You put gold flakes in the clear? Can you tell us how you did it? Thanks.

Thanks Ed! Basically all I did was take a can of dupont clear and spray it into a bottle to airbrush on. Then just added a little bit of the flake in the clear and sprayed it on till i had a nice gloss. I probably should do another coat of plain clear to give the flake a little more depth, but i haven't polished it out yet so maybe i can get away without doing that. The paint and the flake are all supplied by black gold and the clear is dupont trim and jamb acrylic clear.

Well, when you put it that way, it sounds way too simple! title=

Really nice paint work on this one... I would be thrilled to have that type of finish!

Thanks

Thanks title= Hopefully by the end of today I'll have some more pics up of the frame, chromed headers, and the finished interior.

No kidding? It looks great. It's definitely another technique I haven't used; but I can see the advantages with this one. No hassle with flocking material, no paint (and flocking) where it shouldn't be... just print and glue. Very nice. Cool color combo, too. I'm curious to see the finished interior.

Tim.
