About BMC's Projects
There is no competition involved in our projects. The projects are just a way to see each member's interpretation of the project's theme.
There are always three projects per year, which means each project's duration is four months.
Typically there are at least a couple of projects in the queue. Knowing what the projects will be ahead of time gives members a chance to plan ahead.
When a new project is being created it usually goes through two stages. First, our Projects Administrator will initiate a discussion in the forums to solicit ideas. Once the discussion has gone on long enough the Projects Administrator will select several of the ideas and put them to a vote. The winner of that vote will be the next forum project.
For project specifics please read the Projects section of our FAQ.

Sectioned
The three basic methods of customizing a car body are, top chopping, channeling, and sectioning. Many of us have chopped tops. Some have channeled bodies. But few of us have sectioned a body. So, the next Members Forum Project will be called Sectioned. It is opened only to cars. Cars built in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s are ineligible for this project. When viewed in a side view, at least one vertical plane must be sectioned, at least, a combined three (3) scale inches. Remember that the interior has to be sectioned also. Of course, a WIP is mandatory. Here's your chance to make those new pony cars look right or customize an old classic. This project will run from January 1, 2012 until 11:59pm GMT April 30, 2010

Jurassic Park
The Jurassic Park project is dedicated to the auto makes (not models) that have recently gone extinct. Among these are Asuna, Eagle, Geo, Hummer, Mercury, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Pontiac, Rover, and Saturn. (Others may be suggested for approval.) These cars can be built anyway you remember them or want to remember them. These cars need a fitting send off. In your WIP and your gallery, you will be required to state why your project is important to you. Not just any car. Something like I learned to drive in a '60 Pontiac Bonneville Sport Coupe, this is the Hummer I drove in Dessert Storm, I loved to watch Parnelli Jones race his '64 Mercury Marauder, or my dad had an Olds Vista Cruiser wagon just like this.

Indy Car & Indy 500 Tribute
This project is open to Indy Cars of all ages, both two and single-seaters are allowed. Phantom sponsors and cars will be allowed. Sorry, no F-1 cars will be allowed, unless they actually attempted to qualify for the 500. There are many European makes of Indy Cars for our foreign members. Of course a WIP is required to participate in this project.

Hot Rods, Mild to Wild
There probably isn't an all encompassing definition of what a hot rod is. It's another one of those "I know one when I see one." I'm not going to put a vintage limit or say they have to be American, because I have built a '62 Ferrari GTO that will meet almost any definition of a hot rod. Fiats, Anglias, Volksrods, etc. are fine.

1967 or 1969 Ford Mustang
You need to build a 1967 or 1969 Mustang. Build it custom, stock, resto, or any other type that you can come up with. AMT and Revell both make these cars, but if you have an original MPC kit, or another that hasn't been mentioned it qualifies. It doesn't have to even be 1/24 or 1/25 scale.
