Pros

This is the only glue kit of a '63 Corvette Stingray.
It contains quite a few extra parts (2 sets of wheels, 2 engines, etc.)
"Glass" is bagged separately, and is crystal clear.
Includes a pair of uptops for a *convertible* version!
Body captures the shape well

Cons

Some details (chassis and interior) are simplified.
Body emblems are too light, and will get lost under a coat of paint.
Hood needs a bit of filing to open smoothly.
Some crude details
Flash on many of the smaller parts.
Holes in racing slicks are too large.
Poor chrome on stock wheels. (This can be hidden with paint)

Comments

Despite the sticker on the box, this is *not* a new item! It's another reissue of the kit that originally came out in '63! Detail painting works wonders on the dashboard, wheels and engine. Throw a bit of flocking into the floorpan, and the ejection marks disappear. Some modelers might feel that the engine bay is a little empty. You do get an oil catch tank a battery, and a windshield washer bottle.

Pros

The body of this kit captures the subject very well although the scripts are very light. Comes with two complete engines. A 327 that can be built two ways and a 427 that can be built three ways. Comes with two sets of wheels/tires, Stock and american mags. If you use the drag slicks plan on hoging out the wheel wells quite a bit. You also get three different hoods to go with the different engine configurations.

Cons

Suspension and under carriage are very simplified as well as the interior although the dasboard has nice detail. While polishing the paint the right side 'A' pillar broke from being paper thin and I had quite the time trying to glue it back because the top was sprung. The kit comes with two extra tops but no mention of them in the instructions, I would imagine they are meant for a different kit which is a little confusing.

Comments

I would recomend this kit to someone who wants to add detail where there is none and who does not mind the simple under carriage. With a little extra work you can have a very nice Corvette

Pros

You get 3 building options - stock, custom or drag version plus loads of extra parts. There are two different engines blocks to chose from including a small block 327 and a big block 427. There is at least 5 engine choices that are possible in this kit. Two choices of wheels plus a set of drag slicks are also available.

Cons

Mine was an older kit and there is basically a one-piece chassis with no suspension or exhaust system parts - these are molded in. Not too much else is wrong with this kit except some flash on the parts and some sharp edges on the body that can easily be removed.

Comments

This is a kit that I recently re-built; therefore, I'm sure that it is one of the original issues of this kit (#6520). I didn't have too much problem with the script engravings, maybe because this was an earlier version of the kit. With little work, painting detail, and some BMF, this can be turn out a great little model.

Pros

Options and more options!! Lots of extra parts. It also came with a hard top and a soft top.I have an old AMT 67 Vette I am restoring and the tops will com in handy. I liked the racing slicks. Those will come in handy for another project.

Cons

This is a re-issue from the early 60's and it shows. The chassis is a joke. There was alot of flash on the body and parts.

Comments

This model was fun. With the choices of options this model comes together nice. I built mine stock.
