*Only Edsel available in plastic*Separate chassis frame*Contains a list of color combinations for interior and exterior*Very little flash, if any
*Front wheels aren't poseable*Small decal sheet... no gauges*Pins are visible after the glass is installed*Some of the emblems are a little light
I enjoyed building this kit. There's also a prepainted version, and another one with a continental kit. It goes together quite easily. I'd like to pass along a tip. Don't glue the rear panel to the body until after you install the chassis. Otherwise it's a pain to get the chassis in there.
This is a great kit. I had absolutely no fit problems with this kit. Every part fit together like a glove, and the body sits down onto the frame as level as a pool table ! I will certainly do this one again, and in fact, have already purchased a second one. The interior detail is superb, and the frame is not the boring all moded kind. There is a seperate driveshaft, and really detailed front and rear suspension.
The only disappointment was that there were no hood hinges. That is, the hood is on or off. No pins to actually "raise" the hood. There are no gauge decals.
If your into Edsels....Buy this kit now. If you are thinking twice about it, don't. You will not be disappointed.I got this kit from Wal-Mart for under 5 bucks.
I bought the pre-painted version of this kit. The wheels are poseable. Just don't glue the kingpins to the suspension. Nice hubcaps (2 piece deluxe version) and whitewall tire inserts. This model is better than the original "3 in 1" kit from 1958!
Frame wouldn't fit onto the floorpan unless I clamped it with the glue applied. Some versions don't have the "E" symbol on the hood ornament.
The pre-painted kit is worth the extra price. it's extremely detailed.I picked up several of the unpainted kits at Toys R Us for US$3.33 each. Must have been a misprint, but the '67 Impalas were the same price so I picked up a few of those also.
- All parts have a good fit with a minimum of hazzle.- Nice engine details- Definitely one of the best AMT kits I've seen in terms of quality.
- Haven't really encountered any.
I'm still working on this kit and have about 8-10 hours left. The kit came together without any problems at all. Working of this kit actually inspired me to try new things, so this is the first kit EVER where I wired the engine, used flocking and used Bare-Metal. Everything just enhanced this kit even more.
Very nice fit on most partsNice tires and hubcapsExcellent details on chassis Very little flash and sink marks in body
Some of the chrome pieces should be attached to the trees from the bottom of the part (where the attaching point wont be seen as easily)Mounting holes in rear window show (I remidied this by painting a thin line of black around the edge of the window to simulate the rubber seal)The engine is nicely detailed but I think its a bit small to be scale
I enjoyed this kit. Definatly one of the better kits I've done since I started building
-Nice detail.-Most parts fit nice.-Some optional parts.-Separate chassis is a plus as it adds a lot more detail.-Head lights and tailights were seperate pieces, not molded chrome
-The continental kit just would not fit together for me.-There were really no decals to be applied.-The grill detail was too light.-Chrome was really thin and flaked off in many places.-Large obvious sprues on the chrome parts.-Spinner caps on the wheels were secured to the trees with too large of sprues which caused mine to break when I tried to remove them.
All in all this kit wasn't that bad it had a lot of great details and features. I would pay more than 10 bucks though for it as it has a lot of cons.
This kit has good details. The body is clean & lends it's self to customization. The engine & chassis have great detail, and would look very good with some brake lines, and fuel lines. This kit is of a interesting subject.
The front wheels are posable but there is not a sway or tie rod. There are a few inaccuracies.
I would recommend this kit to someone who likes 50's cars, or to build something diffrent. THIS IS NOT A BEGINNERS KIT.
