This idea came to me while working on figuring out what kind of details that I could incorporate into my 68 Corvette build it is something that I have not seen anywhere so I thought I would give it a try. I hope you like it.

Material:

Styrene 1/8" Square Tube Styrene 1/16" Square Rod
C/A -or- Styrene Glue/ Ruler/ X-Acto Knife /File -or- Sand paper

Step 1:

Cut styrene to the following lengths:

Two pieces of 1/8" tube at 1/4"
Two pieces of 1/16" rod at 3/4"
Eight pieces of 1/16" rod at 1/8"

Step 2:

Take 3 of the pieces of 1/8" of the 1/16" and glue two of them side to side and then glue the third piece to the piece just made on the top of the glued seam so that you have a step like piece.

Step 3:

Glue the "step piece" and glue to the seat bottom at the leading edge of the seat, next glue the two remaining 1/16" and glue behind the step pieces to the rear of the seat in a position that you can now place the 1/4" long pieces of the 1/8" square tube on top of the 1/16" blocks so that the tube opening runs front to back, shown in nest picture.

Step 4:

Next cut four pieces of the 1/16" styrene rod to act as the seat rail legs. The length of these legs will be determined by the desired seat height when placed in the car. In this example the legs are cut at approximately 1/4" long and cut on a 45 degree angle on both ends. Glue one piece to the end of the 3/4" styrene rods.

Step 5:

After the legs have set, slide the rod into the 1/4" styrene tube that you previously glued to the seat bottom. I found it easier to slide the rod in from back to front. Next glue the front two legs on the seat rails and let set.

You now have an adjustable seat for your project. This is a very basic tutorial and is open for modifications. I glued a faux release lever to the front of the seat bottom. I would think that if one wanted to get real detailed you could make a functional release and lock mechanism to replace my fake one.

I hope that you can find a use for this in an upcoming build. Thanks for looking in on this tutorial.
